Harmony Heights is incredibly proud to share that we have been chosen by the National Association of Special Education Teachers (NASET) as a NASET School of Excellence!

The recognition as a NASET School of Excellence is bestowed on private special education schools that have met rigorous professional criteria and have demonstrated truly exceptional dedication, commitment and achievement in the field of special education.

Harmony Heights has been dedicated to our students and their families for 49 years, and we are truly honored to have that dedication recognized. Thank you to NASET, to Dr. Roger Pierangelo and Dr. George Giuliani, to our Principal Tatiana Pejkovic for guiding us through this process, and to the entire Harmony Heights staff, led by our Executive Director Kathy Nastri and our Board, for their incredible hard work, caring, and commitment. We are thrilled!

Dear Friends of Harmony,

As many of you may have heard, part of our school in East Norwich experienced a fire early last Monday morning. Thanks to the swift efforts of the East Norwich Fire Department and local battalions, the fire was extinguished in less than an hour, and by later that same day we had already begun the cleanup process. Repairs are currently underway.

We want to reassure you that Harmony Heights is dedicated to a strong finish to our school year focused on review for finals, Regents, and graduation, and while we have temporarily pivoted to a remote program, we will be back in-person in our school building as soon as we receive the all-clear to do so.

While this is of course distressing, we have been buoyed by the expressions of caring and concern shown to us and the support offered. But most of all, we have been inspired by the resilience and can-do-attitude of our staff, students, and parents, who as always are embodying our expression of “Harmony Strong” by pitching in, showing great creativity and flexibility, and above all supporting and caring for one another. That, after all, is what Harmony Heights is all about.

We would like to offer tremendous thanks to the firefighters for their rapid response and incredibly hard work, to our friends and supportive neighbors, and especially to our staff, students, and parents. You are the heart of Harmony, and just as we have faced other challenges during our nearly 50 years of working to support young people with emotional struggles, we will face this challenge as we always have—with camaraderie, teamwork, strength, and humor!

Hope happens at Harmony Heights!
