Academics at Harmony Heights

At Harmony Heights, we provide a supportive and structured learning environment where students can thrive academically while receiving the emotional support they need. As a New York State Department of Education approved program, we offer a Regents diploma track ensuring that students receive a high-quality education in a small, nurturing classroom setting.

With class sizes of no more than 12 students, our certified teachers and teacher assistants provide individualized attention to help each student succeed. Our curriculum meets New York State learning standards, and all courses are fully transferable to the home district should a student return.

Beyond the classroom, we offer college and career counseling, transition planning, and volunteer opportunities to help students prepare for the future. Whether they are working toward a diploma, exploring vocational opportunities, or preparing for higher education, our students receive the guidance, encouragement, and resources they need to achieve their goals.

Clubs and Activities

At Harmony Heights, we believe in nurturing the whole student—academically, emotionally, and socially. That’s why we offer a variety of extracurricular activities that allow students to explore their interests, build confidence, and connect with peers in meaningful ways. All of our activities take place during the school day, ensuring that every student has access to these enriching experiences without the pressure of additional after-school commitments. Some of the offerings include Book Club, Yearbook, community service projects, field trips, spirit days, and prom, all of which foster creativity, leadership, and a strong sense of school community.

In addition to our in-school activities, students are also encouraged to remain connected to their home districts. If their schedules and their districts allow, they are welcome to participate in clubs, sports teams, and extracurricular events in their local schools, giving them the best of both worlds—a specialized, supportive educational environment at Harmony Heights and continued involvement in their broader community. This flexible approach helps students stay engaged, active, and empowered as they grow both in and out of the classroom.

Summer Program

Harmony Heights requires all students to attend our summer program, designed to keep them on track for graduation while maintaining the progress they’ve made throughout the school year. By continuing their education during the summer, students can earn necessary credits, reinforce important skills, and prevent academic and emotional regression. In addition to core subjects, we offer special enrichment courses exclusive to the summer program, providing students with fun, engaging opportunities to explore new interests in a supportive environment.
