Individual and Group Counseling

At Harmony Heights, individual and group counseling are integral parts of our therapeutic approach. Each student meets one-on-one with their assigned therapist every week to receive personalized support tailored to her emotional and social needs. Through these sessions, students develop coping strategies, self-awareness, and confidence in a safe and understanding environment. In addition to individual counseling, group therapy sessions provide opportunities for students to connect with peers, share experiences, and build essential social and emotional skills. Our team of experienced school psychologists and social workers work collaboratively to create a supportive space where students can heal, grow, and thrive, both in and out of the classroom.

Our therapists’ offices are warm, cozy, and welcoming, designed to help students feel comfortable and at ease. Whether sitting in a quiet space or talking through challenges, students can process their emotions in a place that feels safe and inviting,

Therapy Dog

At Harmony Heights, our beloved therapy dog, Luna, plays an essential role in supporting our students’ emotional well-being. Luna is a certified therapy dog who has been a part of our school community since she was just 8 months old. With her gentle nature and loving personality, Luna provides comfort, companionship, and a sense of calm to students who may be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or simply in need of a little extra support.

Luna spends her days sitting with students during therapy sessions, offering a soothing presence as they work through their challenges. Whether snuggling up beside a student during a difficult moment or making her rounds throughout the school, Luna has a way of bringing joy and ease to everyone she meets. Her presence is a reminder that healing can come in many forms, sometimes in the shape of a small, affectionate pug who is always ready to offer a reassuring nuzzle.

Big Sister Program

We understand that starting at a new school can be overwhelming, which is why we created our Big Sister Program to help new students feel welcomed and supported from day one. Each new student is paired with a “big sister” - a seasoned student who has already made significant progress at Harmony and can offer guidance, reassurance, and friendship.

On their first day, new students are greeted by their big sister, who walks them to all of their classes, introduces them to teachers and classmates, and answers any questions they may have. This peer-to-peer support system helps ease the transition, providing comfort and connection in those crucial early days. More than just a guide, a big sister serves as a role model and mentor, showing new students that growth and success are possible at Harmony Heights.

Parent Support Groups

Harmony Heights is proud to offer a comprehensive Parent Support Group series throughout the 2024–2025 school year, designed to provide guidance, education, and community for the families we serve. Meetings are held monthly at 6:00 PM, covering a wide range of relevant topics including managing anxiety, parenting a child with ADHD, social emotional intelligence, communication skills, and more.

Guest speakers—ranging from mental health professionals and special education advocates to graduates of Harmony and life skills coaches—share insights and tools to help parents navigate the challenges of raising a teen with emotional and social needs. These sessions are a valuable resource for building connection, strengthening parenting skills, and feeling supported on the journey.

Meeting Your Child’s Needs

At Harmony Heights, our clinicians and administrators work closely with our academic team to create a fully integrated support system for each student. Through regular collaboration, we ensure that emotional and academic needs are addressed simultaneously, allowing students to thrive in both areas. Our therapists communicate with teachers and staff to provide insight into each student’s challenges and strengths, helping to create a learning environment that is both structured and nurturing.

Beyond the school walls, we actively involve parents and outside service providers in our students’ progress. We maintain open lines of communication with families, therapists, and community-based resources to create a seamless network of support. Whether through family meetings, coordinated care plans, or ongoing check-ins, we work together to ensure that every student at Harmony Heights receives the individualized care and guidance they need to succeed academically, emotionally, and socially.
