Our Mission
For 50 years, Harmony Heights has been a safe haven for girls whose emotional needs cannot be met in a traditional high school setting. Founded in 1974 by Donald Lafayette, our therapeutic day school in East Norwich, New York provides students with not only a quality education but also the emotional and social support necessary for success. At Harmony Heights, we believe that healing and learning go hand in hand, and we are committed to helping each student navigate their own challenges in a setting that fosters growth, confidence, and resilience.
“You are changing the life of every single girl that walks through your door and making second chances possible.”
As a New York State chartered and registered high school, Harmony Heights offers Regents and Local diploma tracks in small, structured classrooms where students receive individualized attention. Our team of dedicated teachers, school counselors, social workers, and therapists work collaboratively to ensure that each student’s academic, emotional, and social needs are met. Beyond the classroom, students benefit from individual and group counseling, therapeutic programs, and enrichment activities that support their personal development.
“Harmony Heights provided me with a safe and supportive environment at a time when I felt hopeless. It was here that my healing journey truly began.”
At Harmony Heights, we empower students to rediscover their self-worth, independence, and hope for the future. Through compassionate guidance, a structured yet nurturing environment, and a strong sense of community, our students develop the skills they need to overcome adversity and thrive. Whether they return to their home district, pursue higher education, or enter the workforce, our graduates leave with the confidence and tools to build fulfilling, successful lives.
